Extra Curricular Roles

One of her most personal and professional life changing events happened in 2017 when she travelled to Guatemala on a missions trip with other nurse educators to expand global health teaching experiences. While on the trip, she was able to care for communities of people in a remote section of the country with limited resources. On the last day of the trip, her team was involved in a life threatening accident that put her faith and personal resilience to the test. From this experience, she has gained an appreciation of global health and grit.

Q&A with Michelle

At °ÄÃÅÂí»á´«Õæ, education is not confined to the four walls of the classroom. You’re not going to spend four years with your nose buried in a book, learning theories you may never get a chance to apply — you’re going to get out there and apply them, be it through internships, group projects, leadership opportunities, competitions and more.

How Did You Get Started?

My passion in nursing started at young age. I was born with a birth defect that required many surgeries to fix. My grandfather would be by my side at the hospital. I remember the nurses taking time with us to help me get acclimated to what was happening to me. It was then that I knew I wanted to be like them. I wanted to be a helper!

What Is Your Favorite Teaching Moment?

I love it when a student that I'm teaching finally tells me, "I get it, Professor Bull". It is like a lightbulb went on and suddenly everything that I have been saying makes sense! It's a proud moment for me.

What Advice Do You Have For Incoming Freshmen?

Get out there and experience the world. Don't hold back. Ask the questions and do the hard things. You will thank yourself in the end.
